Yes, I brought the boat down to Ft Lauderdale pretty much every year from 1980 on. Then I figured it would be easier to just move down here permanently in 1995 lol.

Just proves you were a product of the 80s

Notice the girls all look wholesome and beautiful and a little shy unlike the girls tattooed from end to end of today that look like they just got off a 3 day Crack binge.

I couldn't agree more. All the ink today is a real turn off to me.

A product of the 80's indeed, born in 86.

Mbam 10-15-2014 09:38 AM

Most of those girls were far from shy lol

God me and my Buddy had a ball there in 85 and we both turned 21 We stayed at my parents in Naples for 2 months and during the month of Spring Break we went over to Lauderdale and stayed the weekend in our van parked right on the strip on the beach

It was unreal something right out of a movie we had soo much fun.

The van we had redone the inside before we left Michigan and added two 400 watt Blaupuknt amps and a Blaupuknt head unit . Than we took my buddies Aunts speakers that I think were Crutchfield home speakers and mounted them to the back doors. the speakers weighed a 100lbs each and were 4 feet tall and each one had about 6 speakers in it kind like a Bose .

This was long before people were making really big systems in cars and the Speakers we had would make some really nice clean bass , frikin hurt your chest kind.

We would park the van facing the beach on the strip and open the back doors facing the street and crank the music and with in 20 minutes we had a crowd surrounding us . We were the party men..

Cops would come buy and warn us to turn down the music and we would until they were out of site.than cranked back up/. Had to leave the van running the whole time with 2 batteries charging just top keep up with the amps.Went thru a alternator a week for a while until we bought a heavy duty one.

Last weekend we were there that year the cops had had enough of the music but it wasn't so much the music as the giant party that formed around it.

Anyways we played our little game with them and they finally said we had one choice leave or get impounded.

Went back the following year and they had redid the strip so you couldn't park on it by the beach . The glory days were over.

I thought I had a pic of the van and my boat that year but the only pic i found was the boat with my younger brother in it 'That was another thing he was only 16 and we were letting him go over there with us and drink and chit . Kid had the time of his life.

Tons of Fun on the Strip . Bumper to bumper of cars cruising at about 2 mph. I would see a car load of girls and ask them for a ride and jump in no problem . Ride and BS with them until I ran out of a beer than get out hike back to the van grab a cold beer and do all over again.. Sometimes even get lucky.

Man if we had cell phones back than could have been dangerous.

It seems like 90 percent of the girls back than were at least a 8 or better.and the cops were barely existent for the crowd of people and the drinking and toking that was going on.

Now days they would have called in the Army Reserve and teargas a crowd like that.

Hey TommyM - is it my imagination or is the hull on this Baron very much like the hull on my 1969 19' Monza? Did that Baron basically ride on the transom too?

Great thread, post more wen you can.

No the Baron was an original design, later sold to become the Powerplay/Powerquest out of Holland Michigan.

It did ride on the last 3 feet of the bottom, lot of rocker in the hull.

In 1980 my brother popped a mold off a 26 Monza we owned but closed the company soon after. Those molds were sold to Century and became the Ultra.

Any more pics Mark? It's only been 2 years now lol

After a closer look the hulls are similar but different.. I am bummed out I missed Lauderdale over spring break in the 80's. I should have headed a tad north, I spent spring breaks on the inner coastal in my room mates Florida house in north miami. I don't know if it was even possible, but we saw so many high end go-fast boatsl looking like they were being tested out, that we must have been near some boat manufacturing? is that possible?
