IMCO single hydraulic steering arm

This may sound funny, but is there any way to "tighten" the steering tension on the single arm hydraulic to make it "harder" to turn the wheel? I like mine to be somewhat tight and this one is very easy to turn.

thanx

If it's a pressurized system, you can find out if it's acceptable to change the oil viscosity and/or the air pressure.

Is it a FULL system? If it's an add-on you are still at the mercy of the stock merc stuff inside the boat.

How do you tell if it's a full or add on?

A full system has hydraulic lines going to a helm unit behind the dash.

An add-on system ties the external ram into the merc steering unit on the transom assembly. From there, there is a steering cable that goes to the helm.

Based on the symptom you described above, It sounds like you have an add-on system.
