Did anyone else have problems with either of the above?? We got boarded at PIB for no reason other than we were a Canadian boat. They brought the dog on checked upside down, but never even checked I-68's, total of about 45 mins, then left no tickets nothing--which is a good thing. I was watching the news and Detroit had all kinds of warnings that they were going to do this in Erie and St. Clair, I just didn't see any one else with this special treatment.

I have watched this happen many times at PIB you were not boarded because you are from Canada you were boarded because the dog smelled something

I was boarded last year. The coast guard does NOT need a reason to board your vessel. I don't believe it was because your boat was Canadian, but hey I wasn't there.
I do have to say with our recent events,I guess it's better safe than sorry. We would be *****in if something happened in our country by water, that they were not doing their jobs.Just my .02

I told you Dave, it's those big flashy boats you guys roll in on!
They won't bother my little dingy! I hope!
We didn't have any problems at all at Metro or Jefferson Beach.

I was boarded at PIB last year, They came up w/dogs and asked me to step on the dock so they could perform a search. All I said was "go ahead", and grabbed a beer, and let them do thier job, and they searched the boat up and down, and left.

del sol- didn't see you in PIB?!
We were leaving PIB Sunday at 5pm and the Coast Guard approached us to board for a saftey inspection, we just had one the week before at Metro, showed the papers/checklist and were on our way.... we did make a comment that he stopped us cause of 4 girls on a boat.

The last year my boat ran well I got borded every time I went out. It sucked and to be honest got real annoying. However there is nothing you can do but grin and bear it because they can and will. I am not at all into letting a dog run around on my boat however and there is NO WAY that I can imagine some of you guys with real nice boats wanting that done. They can do their search if they want. However if they are doing a "safty" inspection then the dog stays on their boat if you ask me. I guess they are just doing their jobs, but I started to get the feeling that is was more then that after all those pull overs. I even laminated all my boarding passes and put them in a three ring binder to show them
