Default 525 efi Rev Limiter

Considering raising the rev limiter on an 04 525 efi in a 29 Fountain to 5650 or 5700 rpm. The problem is with a 26p bravo 1 the boat gets into the rev limiter at WOT under any conditions, Weather, Fuel load, People, etc. I have tried a 28p and a labbed 28 with no luck. My concern is reliability and or causing damage to the engine by running it at higher than stock setting. I have seen solid 75 and 77 on good days, would like to see what i could get if it had a little extra room to let it run? Thanks for the help.

How about having the 28 re-pitched down to a 27 ??

Call Brett at BBlades. He'll know what you need to do.

How can you be into the rev limiter with a 26 and then a stock28 or labbed 28 won't work??? What happens with the 28's????

I would think you could run a LABBED 30P 4 blade with your power. I am running similar power (502s with B&M Blowers-low boost; 575-600 hp/engine) and I turn 30P 4 blades to 5200 with 1.5 XR drives easily.

The 28 is too much prop. The Labbed 28 works better but has a hard time getting on plane and the mid range is not as good. I can turn the labbed 28 up to the rev limiter about as easy as i can the 26. The 28 labbed and 26 seam to run about the same speed on top end. Had the 28 labbed by BBlades.
I would just like to know the effects on raising the rev limiter on the 525. Teague and Whipple both said it would be fine i just wondered if anybody had done it and had no ploblems. Thanks
