Gary's Predator Skater
That was very impressive the way Gary's 43 Skater SS went around a much smaller DCB Green M31 that had 1350HPs twin turbos.......
He was the only boat that could pass it.... And Gary's Skater is awesome in person to look at...!!! Great Job Gary.!!!!!!!! |
skater ROCK ON
ROCK NO... LOVE THE DCB GET YOUR ASS IN THE OCEAN AND LETS PLAY ???????????? 1350HP MY ASS :lolhit:

Well 40SS/43.. Predator says 43SS on the sides of each engine scoop ... Have to ask Gary....Also, if you got the DS 2011 book and its list of Poker Run people/boats entered, it has Predator listed as a 43..... idk...
I still give the M31 all of the credit in the world being a new boat and taking it that fast. They is a big difference in size of boat going 170mph or whatever they were at.... |
What is the cost delta between the M31 and Garys awesome machine? (estimates)

Uncle Dave M31 (LA boat show boat) w/700s, NXTs for 410K.... So the Bad boy, Green M31 w/1350s?.... who know's how much more $$ that costs..... I have no clue on the Skater... But you know they get up in the mills.....:drink: |

OK PR388, with all of your investigating did you ever find out what Gary's engines are? or are they still top secret?

There custom built engines from Larry Peto of Larrys Engine and Marine. Fuel injected and supercharged.

Is 1750 hp the number?
IS it a race gas deal? OR a meth injected pump gas setup? What are the basics on the mill? 50 hour engine? 100? Whats the ownership burden on mills like that? some of that super high HP stuff is ludicrous- but I dont know what the leading edge is like up there now. The DCB that could run for long hours with little to no maintenance & tremendous reliability. UD |

I have all the respect in the world for DCB as they build some of the finest boats on the west coast. And Tony, who drove it like he stole it,is the best rigger of boats i have seen.He never lifted the throttles on the M31.This was the fastest DCB that i have ever seen(sorry Don L).

The 31DCB is fast and an incredible, but its a 31 boat (with roughly 2' of bussel) with dual 1350 hp motors! My 33' Eliminator, which Tony did an incredible job building for me, went 165, still pulling with dual 1100 motors. The Skater is a big boat, built for all types of water conditions including the ocean. Both are bad ass boats but comparing them is tough. Now if someone comes out with some nice 4v DOHC heads and block, then you'll see boats like Predator and Pure Platinum and Romers all make more power for even longer. Its coming, its just a matter of time. |

Gary or Larry can touch on the power and reliability. I know they were not on kill and were setup conservatively for the poker run.

I suspect there is also at least a half million dollars difference between the rides as well. Thats probably on the light side. After seeing the previous gen Merc mills maintenance levels Im always looking at the fine print behind "mega mills" like these. Uncle Dave |

Regarding reliability, Gary and Larry have been teamed up for over 20 years with an impeccable reliablity record most only dream of. Whatever deal they struck with the devil worked, for it seems theyve hit the jackpot. Even Gary will give the DCB it's proper due (of course with the proper chest pumping skater rub:kiss:) It's all in good fun. And what some don't realize is that Gary, Dave and Tony are some of the most humble, cool, down to earth people you'll meet. But there's no mistaking - they bring their A game. Don't mess with the bull if you don't want the horns. 159 boats registered and 157 in them in the rear view mirror between these two. Bravo to Gary for having a bigger, heavier FASTER boat and bravo to dave and the crew for coming so far and earning the respect they deserve for a great product! There's no "losers" here. |
Pretty soon with the speeds we're reaching the top dogs may be differentiated by their ability to turn and corner at high speed rather than absolute top speed. Congratualations to those who have the dedication to achieve being the best.
Dustin your absolutely right about the 4v OHC, shouldn't be too hard to achieve with today's machinery. That would be a good addition to your product line. |
both awsome boats did go very fast but the skater did it in calm water and can do it in rough water but the dcb would be left behind so the old rule applies skaters rule price wise is not a issue when you get up that high end just pay and play
