Why don't you see boats with high engine hours?

I have a friend with a 27 fountain that has over 900 hours on the stock 454 mag. It is still running strong, but he is building another engine because he knows he is on borrowed time.

that makes me feel pretty good about the 375 hours on my 89 454 Mags

And that Baja still runs like a champ unbelieveable but it's the truth. One of my old bullets is pushing 900 hours with only a valve job and oil changes. 10 years of realiable running. He knows he's pushing the envelope but just wants to see how long they will last. I've tried to get him to freshen it for the last 3 years he says if it's not broke don't fix it.

Back in my Parasail Boats days we could get 3000 to 4000 thousand hours out of the 330 hp 454s.And they were ran hard and put away wet.
Problem is most go fast guys are Newbies and don't know a phuckin thang about engines. It's not the runnun the chit out of them that kills them it is the not knowing when they need a little love and kiss to continue the relationship that they miss.
