Bleeding power steering
Last fall I removed the motor and gimbal assy from my boat. I have put everything back together. I lost some power steering fluid in the process. I filled the resevoir and it seemed sucked quite a bit of that down which I immediately re-filled again. The problem is I still don't have any steering. It seems like it has air somewhere in the system. It is not external steering. It is the stock system, I believe it is Hynautic. I think that the cylinder itself needs to be bleed. Can anyone help?

Hynautic I think has a web site they should be able to fax you the bleedings process.
call the 1-800 http://www.marinecontrolsys.com/ |
You should not need to bleed this system. You can crank the wheel back and forth and feel a jerky motion. Keep going back and forth until the jerking stops. This should do it. Check the level afterwords.

Yep,,, Simple,,, DONZI Mitch has it !!

The steering I had on my boat had to be blead back at the ram. good luck!

Mine does nothing. Turn the wheel either way and the ram just sits there. So I am thinking that the ram needs bleeding. There is a large bolt on top that serves no apperant purpose, so I am assuming that it is a bleeder of some sort. I left a message with marine control, hopefully they can fax a "procedure".
