Can any of you Cafe or Top Gun guys help me out

I need to know what size batteries I need. I hate to guess and then have them not fit when I get home.

I'm out of town, but want to buy them on the way home friday without going all the way to my house to measure and then all the way back out.

Thanks,

Eric

U probably have group 27 batteries. The cig battery box will fit up to a group 31.
Try to get 800 amp cc / 1000 mca starting batteries. If you go with a flooded battery, interstate makes a decent marine starting battery (27M-Xhd) . If you want the best, get an Odyssey agm battery (31M- PC2150), but be ready to spend $300+ per side.

I was hoping to go with the Interstate Marine batteries. I know they are pretty cheap at Sam's Club. Unfortunately I don't see myself using the boat enough in the next year to warrant the expense on the AGM's.

Great - I appreciate it.

Thanks CigDaze!

Since I am mostly concerned about being able to run the stereo for long periods of time should I be looking at Deep Cycle batteries with less CCA but more Staying Power??

CigDaze 05-04-2011 08:28 AM

You got it. If you want to run equipment off your batteries for extended periods of time then deep cycles are what you're looking for.

Both of mine are deep cycles and I've never had a problem cranking ever, and yet I can enjoy music all day while sitting at the sandbar using only one battery and keeping the other in reserve.

10-4 - I wasn't as worried about the Cranking Amps for a couple reasons - one is I only use the boat when it is hot out (less cranking power required), and two the Parallel start switch is easily used if there is an issue.

Thanks for the compliment. I need a new battery, I think a plate broke in mine. Won't charge. I am going to replace it.

Hell Yeah - not much room to work on those Trannied boats - especially with blower pulleys that look like they are about 10 inches deep!!!

Especially when i am 6'4" and not a rail. Makes for lots of cool bruises, cuts and scrapes. One good thing is that the power has been extremly reliable, so I can't complain. Sometimes I think it would be easier to buy a helper monkey to clean the engine compartment.

When I had the Mistress, I could put 5 bodies infront of the engines and probably 2 on the sides. It was ridiculous.

I had thought that Interstate was also sold at Sam's Club. I was goign to head there right after I get home on Friday.

cigrocket 05-05-2011 06:29 AM

Good call on the Sams. That carry 29 series batteries at ours. They are Energizers, according to the label, they have CCA750 and MCA 650 and 220 minute Reserves. Seems like a steal at 80 bucks. Full replacement 12 month. 3 year pro rate
