Boat Lift Info..

I am looking at various boat lifts for my Baja Outlaw. 29' long.

Has anyone used a Sunstream Sunlift? It is a hydraulic boat lift that sits on the lake bottom. The one that the salesman is trying to sell me has a solar powered system. Any feedback on that vs the more standard electrical system?

Any feedback and/or opinions would be appreciated. I use the boat in Lake Erie and it is in a sheltered harbor so waves are not a concern.

Thanks.

I have a sunstream 10000lb. lift under a Baja 36 Outlaw. Couldn't be happier with it. Boat weighs 8500 dry so the lift is at max and never had a problem. Get the battery power with a trickle charger if you have access to shorepower otherwise the solar will work as a trickle charger to the supplied battery.
They gave me 2 remotes with the lift. I keep one in boat so I can lower it from the cockpit.

Bret.

How long have you had your lift? Any problems with it? What do you do in winter to protect it from the ice?

Thanks.

Put it in in '06. Never a problem. I have a crib docks so I have a ice bubbler for winter. I just leave the lift in the down position. Never had a problem.
Even if the bubbler fails the lift is in about 4 ft of water at the shallowest part, so it shouldn't freeze.
