Dont think the problems were with etops (575 has them). At 200hrs the blowers need to be rebuilt and head gaskets need to be changed upgraded.

If they are etops I'm wrong the swept back headers were the ones he had problems with

They burn LOTS of fuel! Plugs foul up when extended ideling.
For sure pull the thermo housing if its been in salt.
I have a nice pic of a hole in a piston somewhere!

Friend of mine has them... Run.... Parts ie injectors and manifolds are very hard to find.

My 05 575 runs great. No problems with the motor but it does eat bravos. GPH not much worse then the 525. Great lower to mid power.

The engines and boat have 174 hours and look like new, boat is a 30' Hallett. Also has electronic shifting. The control works a box in the engine compartment that has all of the cables going to it.

Also what kind of fuel burn at a moderate cruise like 3000 rpm.

Thanks in advance.
David

I like the 575's...its not a bad idea to put Cometic head gaskets in it but you may not have a problem for a long time. We have a upgrade for that engine including "stripping" the blowers, better heads and cam....makes a reliable 830hp! And improves fuel milage at 3000rpm. Good solid engine from Merc. www.htgracing.com OH...and thats with stock E-Tops

Thanks for this info. This is good information. What is the cost for the upgrade that you speak of? What would I expect for fuel burn at 3000rpm? The boat currently has 1.5 gears and 30 props that are labbed, what would they need to be after the upgrade?

Thanks,
David

blower should be rebuilt between 150 and 200hrs. hope like hell nothings broke, or you will be in the boat im in right now, and cant get parts to fix it. they run great and suk the fuel but who cares about fuel economy....... right:evilb:
