Default Alt wiring help.

I have this Alternator. Not sure where it came from (I know it’s marine) but I need to use it for now. It has the normal single wire terminal but then it has this plug with a black and a red wire out of it. What is this for?

Default Fixx

that is a self energizing alternator,,you cam loop the red wire on the plug to the battery lug and the black goes to a amp meter or you can tie it off and leave it be if the volt gauge is hooked up.

mark,if you remove that back cover the alternator will look like a stock 70's internal regulated alternator, that black plug plugs into the side of it..
