hering vs other props

i am in the middle of testing shorties and props. Its a 30' mystique so not much info out there on them. Im at a point im not even sure how many blades will be fastest for my application, let alone what brand props

my question is has anyone experienced other brand props out running hering props, assuming same pitch and blades.

its nuts to think i need to test all brand props, merc, hydro, hering, all blade configs, 4,5,6.. So im hoping by just testing hering i can bank on the fact that any other brand identical prop wont be faster

Given the level of sophistication and competition in the prop industry, I would think that the same-spec prop (pitch, diameter, blade count, rake...) from each manufacturer would perform so closely to each other in a pleasure application, that they're wouldn't be a significant difference. It's going to be far more important that you get the correct configuration more than a particular manufacturer.

The key thing is that you work with the prop manufacturer on what's most important for you: top speed, cruise efficiency, acceleration, boat balance, etc. One prop spec will not give you everything. When I was faced with a new setup, I started by borrowing as many props as I could to test before trying to nail down an exact specification. The testing showed me that my initial guess would have been wrong.
