The Army Corps of Engineers opened two additional gates at the Mississippi River's Morganza Spillway today, unleashing a wall of water which is now flowing into the spillway at a rate greater than that of Niagara Falls, more than 100,000 cubic feet per second. http://abcnews.go.com/US/mississippi...ry?id=13613998

Easy guys. The Bonne Carre spillway has almost nothing to do with the water levels in Tickfaw, Lake Maurepas, Ponchartrain, etc. Livingston Parish, for some unknown reason, closed the waterways this weekend due to East winds and high tides. Water isn't even that high down there and Ascension parish never closed their waterways. I'd bet everything will be open next weekend.

Just talked to a buddy from down there ,he said the winds is pushing the water up the river?Said at the Tickfaw marinia has a bunch of campers moved in there, they tried putting in and they told him the river is closed,They say the waters up that the boat wakes would cause damage to houses .

What else are you all hearing?

Bonne carre won't affect maurepas at all. I was thinking about putting in in Madisonville Tuesday but I want to make sure there us no flotsam from bonne carre on the north side of the lake. Anyone???

A south or east wind will make the water stack up in the lake, bad news is their forcasting Southeast winds all week. Just have to wait and see. Livingston Parish waterways are scheduled to open back up 10:00 am Monday morning.
