survey, survey, survey. a 1994 has a good chance of being wet in some bad places.
|
I used to own a 95. I can tell you a whole bunch about the boat. What would you like to know?
|
I could be wrong, but I think that boat was across from my house on cass lake when new. Guy named scott owned it.

Appears to be very similar to a 26 American Offshore, the A/O's were very well alid up boats, but cant say about obsession.

obsessed,
Well I boat mainly on lake michigan wondering how it would handle 1-3's also if you know of anything specific that I should look for? Guy says boat was cleared by a previous owner. Does anyone know why you would clear a boat with gel coat graphics? |

Does anyone know why you would clear a boat with gel coat graphics? Norther Offshore is right. They were built in Shiwano or Shauno (sp?) Wisconsin. 93-95 or 94-96, I dont quite remember. I was also told they are based off of an eliminator. I also boat primarly on Lake Michigan, and did with that boat. Give me a call at 847-613-7319 and I can tell you a hand full of things to look for. Overall, it was great boat.. |
These boats started out being called "legend boats", they were built up north in WI, my father had a 1991 Legend built with a 500HP Baker engine which would run right at 80 and I still have the brochure from way back, we have also owned a 26' AO and they are nothing at all alike. The Obsession is a great boat, its much heavier, has more free board, and the center sponson is in the water until about 70mph. You take water in the face a lot in that boat! Ours was on LOTO and handled the water just fine, I dont think you could break that boat if you wanted to. Very well built, but heavy! The AO handles a lot better in corners and is a faster hull all together.
|
I personally have seen almost the same boat have multiple front left sponson hull delamination problems, even after going to 2 different shops.

Eliminator purchased the building from my father. We had a little Chevrolet delaership. I believe is was called Eliminator East. I think Eliminator left after a few years and maybe sold some molds to the people who stayed in the building, I think starting Obsession.. Small world...... |
eventfull day
Well drove 3 hours to detroit and the boat was not what I expected. I had him talked down in price pending a sea trial. The motor was built and ran strong in his shop. We got out on the lake, there was maybe 1' chop on lake st. clare and coming up on plane we got sprayed 3 times. That all was ok I could deal with that. Well we were cruising 60 for maybe 2 minutes and the supply hose for the cooling fell off. My brother in-law smelled the rubber first so I quick pulled her back and shut the motor off. Opened the engine compartment and the exhaust boots were on fire, my first though was great now I get to go swimming. Owner quick grabbed the extinguisher and put them out, thankfully. We hooked the hose back up and limped her back in. Needless to say I did not drag a boat home today.
