Baja_man 05-25-2011 08:59 PM

Sorry...I thought I looked cool doing it.

gotstreetracin 05-26-2011 08:34 AM

It was and it was almost cooler when you almost ran over your wakeboarder!

hotjava66 05-26-2011 11:20 AM

Its a brave new world. I have a hard time telling if people these days are blatant pricks, or just blatantly oblivious to everything and everyone around them.

LAriverratt 05-26-2011 11:27 AM

I really think its a combination of obliviousness and they just don't really care about anyone except themselves and what they are doing!!!

Wildman_grafix 05-26-2011 12:10 PM

I have wondered the same thing, I was at the gym the other day and there was a lady talking on her phone while she sat on a AB machine, won't get up to let anyone else use it and talked on the phone for 15 minutes.:angry-smiley-038:

See it driving everyday,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

AMEN!! Like the assbag that races up beside you in the right lane and figures since your not touching the bumper of the car in front of you, you're not in as much of a hurry as him! I say, try that while I'm standing in line at the bank! No road rage THERE!

Reminds me of one of my observations from past experience. On the interstate, when you can use the remainder of a merging driver's on-ramp to pass them... they merged way too soon and too slow. ;)

Agreed, but nothing upsets me more than someone driving 50 in the LEFT lane. Probably the only thing that gives me road rage.

CALinVA 05-26-2011 03:22 PM

It seems like it's gotten alot worse on the water over the last couple of years....Zombies! :angry-smiley-044:

AO31 05-26-2011 04:00 PM

I was thinking maybe the higher fuel prices would filter out some of the ...less serious...... boaters!?

Rat, your use, and correct spelling, of the word 'obliviousness' puts you in an exalted position among us lowly waterfreeks. Bravo! :ernaehrung004:

I did it in a '95 Jeep Wrangler pulling a small trailer. That's how early they merged! :lolhit:

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago loading my boat on the trailer in Dania. The guy at the ramp next to me had a his boat on the trailer everything out of the water except the outboards and was revving the hell out of it for god knows what reason for ten minutes.

The ramps are in this little narrow canal and I was trying to maneuver around this 37ft boat while this guy kicked up this nasty current that was pushing me away from the trailer. The ramp had a stone wall on both sides and it took me 15 minutes to get the boat on the trailer straight without bouncing my new paintjob off one of the stone walls. WTF.

I had this c*nt in an Escalade full of kids look....then pull right out in front of me on a two laner when Im doing like 55 or 60 the other day....had to hammer the brakes and tools and crap flew from the back into the front of the van.....then she just slowly accelerates, no hurry at all....look in my rearview and theres nobody behind me!....I got right up her ass and held the horn on for about a mile and a half solid!!!.....the kids started looking out the back after awhile....you could tell they were telling her "he's giving you the finger...." a little roadrage? yes....hopefully she wont do it again and I felt a lot better...!

HTRDLNCN 05-26-2011 07:34 PM

Dude, I have been working on my boat IN MY SLIP and had moron wakeboarders doing circles in the no wake cove next to the marina
making the entire marina jump up and down with the music so loud they could not hear me yelling, it took a 9/16 wrench thrown at the their boat before they realized what was going on and then they gave me attititude,, attitude that went away when I pulled my flare gun out .. People today dont give a rats ass about anyone except themselves and then get mad when the world gets pissed at them for the stupid **** they are doing.

Dear powerboater douchebag,
Thanks for coming to the empty, isolated (from the main lake) bay where me and my friends like go to wakeboard. We normally go there out of consideration of other boaters, as to not disrupt other boaters, or have to deal with tubers. I'm especially pleased that you came out my way so I could hear your loud, unmuffled exhaust. It makes you look so much more badass, you don't even understand. When you came through at full throttle (in a dead-end bay), made that powerturn and hauled ass back out, I rubbed one out. That had to be the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

The point is, it goes both ways. There are people in every type of boat that disrespects other people. Just turn your head and go about your business. It's a public lake for damn sakes, just like the street.

frankenstein 05-27-2011 12:43 AM

Now it's getting good.

Baja555 05-27-2011 04:28 AM

It's funny when you catch up to these douche bags and grab them by thier skinny pencil necks.....seems like you dont see them in that area anymore..

pacalim1965@yaho 05-27-2011 06:36 AM

Here in florida you have these blue hair old fogies idleing down the middle of the channel in thier rental pontoon boats like thier in a no wake zone. Powerboats roaring by at 70 mph. They still don't move to the side. I consider every one within 100 yards a moron untin they prove other wise..

On that note, i like the people in the rental boat that come into the "no wake" zone on plane and runs into the dock hard or up on the shore. "what do you mean theres no brakes" :lolhit:

While we're venting, two more things that piss me off: I'm IDLING through a canal, just checking out the scenery on my way to the ICW and some dude in a paddle canoe is giving me the tough-guy stare and mouthing the words "a**-hole". Why is every guy in a canoe pissed that you're in a boat?

Or better yet, when I'm coming back into port at dusk and three guys in a 12 foot boat are fishing right in the middle of the channel. Why do I have to idle in 600 yards before the no wake zone to avoid running over some yahoos who are where they shouldn't be? To me, stopping in the middle of the channel into a port is like stopping in the middle of the highway.

In this situation, HornBlasters Trains in the grille FTW!
Definitely helps people find the go-pedal..

I'm Sure there will be plenty more boating stories after this MEM day Weekend...

pitts1313 05-27-2011 10:39 AM

Bass boats fishing in the middle of blind curves that are main byways? I don't get it or the attitudes. You can't be catching anything with all the traffic and jeopardizing everyone that rounds the corner.

Jet skis are kamikaze pilots. I learned they will do anythng to pass you, even if putting themselves endanger by pinching you in a curve.

I have come off plane for canoes up river where it might be appropriate location for canoeing (but they really shouldn't be where big boats are), but sea kayaks in the main channel I am not coming off plane. They made a conscious decision to be there in the main channel wakes. In contrast. I choose not to take my power boat to play in a shipping lane jumping wakes or run thru a sail boat regatta.

I really believe the go fast crowd is pretty safety conscious and situation aware compared to all other boaters. I do my part to help project a good image

I agree 100%. It's like if you chose to ride your bicycle or stop your car in the middle of the interstate.... you are asking to get run over... these fools not only endanger themselves, but other boaters who are doing all the right things.

searaycer 05-27-2011 10:58 AM

hahahaha, dealt with this same situation just yesterday...guy was flipping me off and pissing and moaning when I went by...I just yelled get out of the channel asswipe!

I use to bass fish in the same waters I now run the dominator in...I knew that by 10am I didn't want to be in the main river...to much traffic...I would hang around from time to see the occasional topless eye candy though!!!!:drink:

X-rated...its open this week:lolhit: why they closed it down last week I really don't know...I was out of town but the pics my girlfriend sent, the water was not to high!!

Those are the best arent they, You forgot to mention the sailboat that decides to turn around in the middle of the cut, seems it always happens to me when a cruise ship is on its way in. Its one thing for it to happen in the cig, but from the enclosed bridge on the hatteras those night fisherman scare the heLL out of me, thank goodness I care more about my surroundings and their safety than they do. I can help but say the night fisherman in the 12 foot boat in the middle of the cut arent much different than the homeless man in the wheel chair that decides to cross 4 lanes of traffic at dusk, while the dont walk sign is illuminated.
