ants attracted to my boat!!
 

I been using Meguire’s wash/wax it’s a greenish color product. Is it possible this is drawing the ants? Every time I go to my boat I have a **** ton of ants in it.

Any suggestions?

OK I got into my boat the other day and had ants around the gunnels and windshield, not sure if they were attracted to a smell or a dark place. Either way go to Home depot/walmart get the granual ant killer that you put around the house. Then apply as directed all around your boat and the area by it. At this point this should stop any new ants from getting in. Next buy a fogger or ant bomb, I bought one that had a good scent. I turned it on and held it in my hand and bombed the cabin, engine, cubby holes, and sprayed the whole cock pit area. It killed everything and havent seen anything yet. Let the bomb sit then go backa and wipe everything down. Nothing smells after using it and it wont stain. Then you can go buy some tero and leave it in your boat to kill ants if they get in.

I sprayed my Donzi down with the Ortho stuff. I did not get it on any of the interior because I was not sure if it was safe for that but did hose down the engine bay and any place else that I could reach. They were gone the next weekend. It turned out they were dropping in from a tree over my dock that has since been removed... :D

I found some powder beetles eating up the wood on my 13ft boston whaler project. I'm getting if fumigated.

it makes a difference what kind of ants they are as how to get rid of/kill them. The big black carpenter ants are the toughest, on an old 16 footer i had that seemed to attract them i found the spray foam stuff and a few of those foggers tossed in the compartments and stringer areas with the cover on did the trick. For the small regular ants nothing works like Terro, put a few drops on some small squares of cardboard and just leave them where you think they travel. They take it back to the nest and it slowly kills 'em all.
