I got 3-4 mph on my 28 Nordic Heat with a 496HO. Biggest difference was up around 60 mph and beyond. Sounds much better too!

wow, thats a good gain. thats with no computer tune or anything? just toss those on there.
my prop is already under revving a tad so i would guess that the little extra power should rev right on.

A friend just did a Mag to HO swap on a 288 sundsation. Said there was a significant lift in the hole shot and top end pulled stronger than before. not apples to apples because of the full HO swap but it was a part of the toolbox.

I think Dana's are the absolute best bang for the buck out there for value and HP added.
You just can't go wrong.

x2. I had a friend put them on, he didn't see much on top end, but the mid range was VERY noticeable.

I've heard about the midrange improvement. Funny thing is I can't tell any difference out of the hole or midrange. All my improvement was at the top end- above 4000 rpms or 60 mph for me. I'm sure some of it is prop. I run a Bravo 4 blade 26p which turned 4900 rpm before now at 5050 rpm. That may be some of the reason I was able to achieve such a "big" top end gain, if you consider 3-4mph big.

Where else can you spend the same money and gain a few mph without opening up the engine? Propeller finishing and shorter lowers are the only things I can think of.
