Two-and-a-half years in the making, http://speedonthewater.com/new-boats...in-greece.html.

Solid and stable in rough water. Also great as tenders/small transport vessels. Bump the docks—or a megayacht—and you do no harm.

There's a local dealer my buddy used to move boats for, PROTECTOR BOATS. Same concept as that sunsation. Modestly powered 30' c.c. with a verado 300 would GPS almost 70! And handled big water easily. Protector also makes walkaround ribs. Talk about an ugly duck!! Cool boats though, big $

John Tomlinson had a RIB for awhile that he let me drive during Powerboat magazine tests a few years ago in Fort Myers. It wasn't fast, but it was so nimble and just plain fun.

Not that they'll ever be embraced in the States the way they are in Europe, but they definitely have a place.

What was the specs on the one you demoed? I agree that they'll prob never take off in the u.s. market. But they are definitely cool and functional. I think the Protector is made in Australia? Which will definitely drive its cost up

I have to check with J.T. on that. The funny thing is ... he usually doesn't own a boat. All the race boats he throttles belong to other people. Same with the high-end pleasure boats. But he actually owned the RIB, and he loved it, too.
