50 foot boat is massive to my eyes. Maybe Im bucking the trend of bigger and bigger but we have a 42 OL and a 42 Fountain in our shop right now and they just seem so freakin huge on the trailer. I trailer everywhere also. Adds for some additional versatility and less wear and fuel use of the boat using a trailer IMHO. You just have to be comfortable trailering the long load. It has some drawbacks, but I prfere it over high & dry storage or lift slip. Im Longer than most 18 wheelers hooked up. Gooseneck prob is better than off the rear, plus it allow for a tighter turn radius. I figure Im over 19,000 lbs loaded, boat, fuel gear and trailer. Then add in the truck.....
