The one I rode in was built like a tank and ran like a scalded dog with trip 650 gas engines. We were running over 100mph in 3-4' lake snot and 30+mph winds. The fastest V I've ever ridden in and the ride quality was almost cat-like in those conditions.

Well in that case, welcome back after the long hiatus!!! So you've been 'out' since the OE? If so, ouch... but you must be a wealthy man by now!!!

Does anyone know if this boat actually sunk? If it had a trailer and I could sell my other two boats....

Ad says cruise 40-45 and top 55-60 which would be ok with me.

Look at the gas version of any of your boats, say you spin the Yanmars at 3,500 rpm through 1.5, that is the same as your gas engines turning 3,500 rpm through 1.5 gears. Measure your slip at 3,500 at it will most likely be higher than at 4,400. If that is fact then you won't get the small props to work well because of lack of prop speed.

If that boat had Arneson's with closer to a 1:1 gear she would run allot better I bet into the low - mid 60's.

My 2 cents
Hey Joe, How would one best measure the "slip?

I'm no expert by any means but I did check quite a few diesel boats during my boat search. I'd have to go with Habana's call on this. My guess is 30 knots cruise and 40 at top end.
That's a whole lot of hull contact with the drink and that pair of low rpm/hp diesel powertrains will really slow you down.
On the bright side, I'd take that boat in a millesecond at less than 30k. Your fuel consumption would be excellent and you'd still get there before the true cruisers but way behind the go fast cruisers.

See ya,
Kelly

I converted my 32 to diesels and chose the little cmd 4.2 320 hp and upgraded the drives to xr due to the tq ,these yanmars will kill the bravo's soon because they have quite more tq

I spin 34 bravo's @ 3750 rpm thru 1.50 xr's and see 72 mph on the gps ,I think if the 40 hit the 60 mph you must be very happy and pray for the drives !
