Moisture meters

Can anyone give me some advice on buying and using a moisture meter? I'm doing some repair work and I know the balsa is wet, just trying to find the extent of the moisture. Any help is appreciated.

As I look into this more it gets more confusing. Pins or pinless ? Seems like the pin type primarily measure resistance across the surface of the wood. It seems like this method wouldn't work well because the balsa core is divided into little squares with no continuous surface on top. So a pinless type might be the way to go?

non probe works good . My friend just bought 1 for about 400.00 and it works great, don't remember the brand. I'm sure the less expensive ones work well too. check ebay
