Can't get boat on plane easily

I had major issues since last fall. I'm in pretty good shape now and I'm enjoying getting out on the boat quite often. My problem is I'm having a terrible time planing off. Tabs full down and it takes a couple minutes. When I bought the boat it had Bravo I 4 blade 23p. They were underpropped badly. Now I'm trying to spin Bravo I 4 blades but 26p. I also only reach 4800 rpm at wot with 500 EFI's. The boat is a Fountain 38 cruiser. Any ideas. It's on Lake of the Ozarks

The new props are labbed

There are no such thing as 23P Bravo 1's unless they were adjusted to be 23p. If the 26P is to big try a set of stock 24p that should get you 200 rpm and be easier to plane out. Somebody at Fountain has to know what the right prop set up is for that boat.

pstorti, I got the factory test when the boat was new. It had 24p on it. Will dropping to 24 make a big difference? And won't that give me 400 rpm? I thought it was 200 rpm per inch decrease. I think you are correct on needing 24's

every boat reacts differently to pitch change but 400rpm is quite a lot I really think it will be closer to 200rpm. Is the boat full of fuel and gear when it is slow to plane? Have you had it long enough to see how it does with little fuel? Stick with stock Bravo's to do your testing if you mess around with lab props you never really know what you are testing, save that for fine tuning once you have a good all around set.

punch your numbers in here www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm then change the pitch from 26 to 24 and recalculate the RPM and it will give you an idea of the result.

The boat is beginning to plane faster now that I burned off some fuel.I had it full. I guess that's too much fuel.. I'm still confused on which route to go. I think I'll burn more fuel then check some WOT runs to seee if I can reach around 5,000 rpm or more

Did you have the water patrol doggin you a week or so ago? Saw a 38 EC and the guys wife had to drive the boat back to Dag Days after they boarded and then the boat left with the water patrol right on his stern.
