Hmmm.....
Wonder if I can get the "big bullet" done and re-installed into the "Lawn Dart" will my better half be interested in using the Hudson as a shakedown cruise? Whaddayathink, Shane, can we stick that thing into your raftup?
Tantrum - If we make it, I'll give you another demo ride. Trust me - it WILL be different from the one you got in the Radar ShootOut last year.... |
C_Spray,
Love to see you and Woo Hoo make it up for the raft up. We are also going to plan a couple fun runs. Maybe a fun run weekend. I like the Idea of Havestraw to Kingston and maybe a beach BBQ. Ill add you to my list of possible attendee's. Say hello for me Chris |
Come on up!
Chuck,
Bring it on up! We have plenty of room for you! We are staying at my parents house about 20 minutes from Liberty landing Marina. You and Dianne are more than welcome to stay there with us! Let me know. We would LOVE to have you guys! Shane:cool: |
How far is the liberty landing marina from the doubletree hotel.

Ok! Ok! I'm coming close to a decision here. With this overwhelming response of OSO'ers showing up for this event, I'm having a hard time keeping my boat on the trailer. How could I miss this? My biggest concern after last year was I found myself running alone. There were supposed to be a few cruisers making the run, but once I passed them I never saw them again. It got a bit scary knowing that there was no one around. Would anyone be willing to make the run along with me whether your are actually in the run or not? True, in the beginning, I won't be setting any records, but once above the Harlem River I'll be running in the 60's. I would love to run the 13 ft Mini Offshore again, just looking to make it a bit more safer than last year.
CAN ANYONE WATCH MY BACK? ;) |
DOH! Can't make it....
Turns out the Admiral / Social Coordinator has other (boating) plans for us that weekend. (She even went so far as to point out that it was clearly marked on the calendar on the refrigerator. Oops.) You guys are on your own - do your best. :D
|
Shark-man,,,,
My 23 foot Baja only does 58-60 balls to the wall, if you can't find anyone else a little faster to keep you company, let me know.. Chris

Hey Shane,
What are most of the members doing, running up to Haverstraw, stopping at the raft up and then running back to Liberty? |
Chuck,
Sorry you guys won't make it!:( Hope you have fun anyway.;) See you soon.:D Shooter, A lot of members are going on the run. I am not sure what "everyone" is doing, but I am planning on leaving Liberty Landing a little early, running up to the raft up and watching the BIG DOGS shoot it out for King of The Hudson!:D Then maybe stop again on the rebound and do an OSO run back to NYC. How does that sound? You are more than welcome to run along with us if you would like. Shane:cool: |
So Shane,
Just in case, how big is mom and dads house? :) |
Bruce,
Not too big but LOT'S OF FLOOR SPACE!:p ;)Keep me posted, we have air mattresses! Hope to see you next week. Shane  |
Shane, is there a ramp right there at Liberty Marina? How about an area to keep the trailer? Also, if we do come up, all I'll probably need is a place to keep the boat Friday and Saturday night.
|
Bruce,
There is a ramp right there at liberty state park. They have guarded parking there as well or you can bring it to my parents house. That is what I am doing. Last time actually I just left the boat in the water the whole time. Not much to worry about there but you can bring it to my parents if you would like. Keep me posted. Shane:cool: |

Anybody using a VHF?
What channel should I monitor? |
Is there fuel at liberty landing?
|
Chris232, Sounds good! Like I said, I really won't be getting on it until the water flattens out to a steady 2 ft chop. Will "POST TIME" be going on the run??? DJD ??? I would consider following your wake at the start  :D :D :D

Is this the same Poker Run as the “King of The Hudson" ??

My $$$ is on:

Any of you people running this poker run or just rafting up ?Im comming from Florida TO RUN !! I NEED INFO! WHERE CAN I GET FUEL! By Liberty landing.
|
Yes, Liberty landing does have fuel. I believe it's 89 octane tops, though. Haverstraw has a fuel dock also.
http://www.libertylandingmarina.com |
Thank you shooter!
|
There are a 2 or 3 fuel stops along the NJ side north of the G.W Bridge. They are at these Small marinas. The price for gas is much less than Liberty , Haverstraw, or Tarry Town. I paid less for gas there than I paid at a pump in NY on the way to the launch. Just to let you know. The Tarry Town marina is just 1/2 mile or so north of the Tapanzee Bridge. I am not sure what octane gas they all sell but I do know That the Haverstraw marina has higher octane. I hope this helps.
Paul :) |
The marina you are referring to, about 5 miles north of the George Washington bridge, is a NJ state run marina, and therefor has the least expensive gas on the river...but only regular octane.
The next place up the river is the Tappan Zee marina in Piermont, on the NJ side of the river, just south of the TZ bridge, but they only have regular octane as well. there are thre marinas right next to each other, it is one closest to the bridge The Tarrytown marina just north of the bridge on the NY side also does not have higher octane fuel Hope this helps |
Hey MOJO
We went to the NYC PR last year..give me a call and I'll try to answer your questions... Dan 277-3901 |
Anyone know what the chop has been like up there lately?
|
Hey Mojo, the double tree is about 2 miles from, liberty and they had a haf-assed car service that you had to wait for but we came by boat.this year we are staying in manhattan and we take the ferry across the hudson and back. bring octane booster enjoy tripps

NYC Poker run
Any OSO members looking to leave from the upper Hudson river...we are launching out of Catskill at 8am....bound for a rendevous in Newburgh with other fellow OSO members (hopefully) and then heading to the Raft up.
Is 10 am the approx time everyone is in the Newburgh area is leaving??? Thanks Bo [email protected] |
Sorry about the food Jen! :( It's looking more like I will leave the big boat home and run the 13 footer for one more run on the Hudson. So far I have one boat that is willing to hang with me this year. Last year finding myself without anyone around started to make me think twice about this year. When i showed up at Chelsea Piers at the end of the event, not too many people realized I was even running in it. So if something did happen, no one would have known for some time. Perhaps I will ask Billy Frenz to run off a check list as people turn in their cards so they know everyone made it back to port. Afterall, we are talking about a 75 mile stretch. I think I may also pack a cell phone in a ziplock bag and attach it to me. In case the handheld VHF doesn't reach anyone. Better to be over protected then not protected at all.
So where will your boat be Jen? I am counting on you for some great pics. ;) |
Wow! I never took all that into consideration with the cameras. I guess I'll just have to make a few passes at you then before heading North...:D :D :D East side or West?
|
I would guess the West side. This way the Sun will be at your backs and the NY Skyline in the background...
And of course I will publish a LINK...;) :D :D :D I hope your Signature will not apply to my boat come June15th. :D :D :D |
Hey Sharkey,we will cruise with you ,we usually cruise about 40 in a 30 footer if thats alright with you tripps: :D :D :D
|
That would be great. I don't plan on opening it up till we get up where it is calm. Hope you have some cameras aboard. I would love to get some new Big Air Shots! ;) :D
|
sounds good to me,we will see you there fri nite, youll remember us,we were the ones who had the 2 kids that were all over your boat at skaterfest on sunday, good news is leaving those 2 with mom fri and sat,see you then tripps :D :D :D
|
Place to stay?
Does anyone no where we can get a slip at a marina fri and sat down there. We will be coming down from Albany or catskill.
Thanks Dave:confused: |
Dave,
Got to http://www.nationalpowerboat.com on there they have all the info you need. I believe the place we have stayed at is called the Double Tree but not sure. If you are entering the run, when you check in Friday you then go to the dockmaster and he supplies a slip for you. If you are entered, slips are included. See you Friday. Shane:cool: |
Thanks Shane
We are just going down to watch.
Dave |
Sorry Dave
Sorry Dave,
I misunderstood you! I am sucha dumb ass!:p Anyaway, with that in mind, teh guy running with me has a boat near Poughkeepsie. Is that too far north? Where would you like to be? Rightin NYC or just across in NJ, or is a little north okay? If north is Okay, I would try the Haverstraw Marina. Used to be a really nice place. It is the northern most card stop on the run as well. Used to have ALL the facilities. If that doesn't work, let me know and I can ask around. Shane:cool: |
Shane, Weather is looking good for this weekend. I started prepping the 13 footer last night. See ya on Friday!
|
LAST CALL:
Any of the ladies who do not wish to do the run in a high performance boat and who would rather spectate from a larger stationary vessel are more than welcome to join me aboard the Linssen, as well as anyone else who needs a ride. I still have plenty of room. (Sharkey, I reserved a space for you just in case it's rough.) Will Smith is coming up from Florida with his beautiful girlfriend in his new 34. I think he said it has twin 750 hp motors. This is a working weekend for me. The PowerboatingCharities.com web site will be up and running late Thursday night. I will be at the registration table, Total Dollar table, Poker Runs of America tabel, the Linssen or milling around the marina. In other words, find me if I don't find you. Let's have a safe run gentlemen. Best regards and happy boating, Jennifer |
