Those drives will last for a while. With that said, I agree with Jeff that Arneson's might have been the more reliable choice on this project, probably faster too.
That's gonna be one fast SOB either way! |
I'm sure most already know this, but it is an existing boat that already had #6's for those thinking it's a brand new boat. Having said that I agree arnesons are the way to go.
Bill63, Also curious why Pete doesn't like the M8, isn't it just a beefier #6 with -2" X dimension? Same basic internal design right (but stronger). |
Maybe if ya just roll past peek TQ they'll live?
looks like they tried to make it narrow |

I don't see how the 6 drive can survive an extra 400lbft of torque, even in a cat hull. He'll have to really baby them is all I can say. Even with that, sooner or later they're gonna pop.
Who has a Bravo style drive that can handle 1500lbft? SDS? |
Great Pic!

The drives will not last, they will wear out. Yes they will technically work, just not last or give the owner piece of mind. But obviously the people who can afford these engines, can also afford new drives. They will prob both need to be rebuilt often anyways, and the owner will hardly put any hours on the boat.
