This thread is 18 months old. Doubt advice will help much.

Too bad we never heard the end of the story.

Yeah but others will be in the same situation and would hopefully use the search function.

I'm currently in the same situation, I'm thinking Plane ticket, certified check and Uhaul for the return trip. It would cost me a coupe days of my time but I can only imaging how much time would be wasted if the boat is not what they say it is. Cost wise its about the same as having it shipped.

Plane tickets and shipping would be the cheapest part fo the deal if there are mechanical issues you dont find out about till it arrives!!! Or if theres something you dont like about the boat thats not seen in pictures like upholstry need to be completly redone!! :(

I purchased my boat sight unseen except for pictures.
I was as nervous as a schoolgirl on prom night looking at pic's.
Our transaction went like clockwork.
10% down at him signing the contract.
I paid for a powertrain survey from a Team Mercury dealer SC leakdown, and comp/leakdown on cylinders.
Then an accredited marine surveyor's comprehensive survey and seatrial.
50% more at pickup by carrier and the final upon delivery.
Our transactions were handled by wire transfer from my Wells Fargo to his bank.
Pat@OSP transport (OSO member)brought it over 2000 miles to my local lake.
My surveyor was worth every penny as he picked up on a non-diclosed issue which netted me a 10k reduction in the purchase price.
I would suggest never being afraid to pay for professional representation, they're non-emotional and just doing their job.

See ya,
Kelly

Go look at the boat. Performance boats, and parts are expensive. Even a couple of missing brackets are the cost of the plane ticket. No reason to cheap out in the end. I do see that this thread is super old. but I bet somone is thinking about this same thing..... it is winter
