How would you like to be staring down the deck at this in rough water?

It appears it is attached with a "Heavy Duty" bungee cord. What's your point?

Ohhhh, didnt realize that was "heavy duty" bungie cord. My bad. :picard1:

290enticer 07-15-2011 09:42 PM

talk about a scratched bow!!

low_psi 07-15-2011 10:08 PM

The Bungee Cord will prevent scratches..........

augie58 07-15-2011 10:27 PM

The seller is not charging extra for the bottom paint.

low_psi 07-15-2011 10:32 PM

He should be charging and extra $2.99 for the Anchor Mount

phragle 07-15-2011 10:34 PM

if the deck and hull arent glassed together, one must make sure the deck is securely anchored to prevent flex.... At least thats what GlassDave told me....

bert4332 07-15-2011 10:39 PM

I don't care if he had a bungee cord made for bridge jumping holding it down, you hit a big enough wave it's gonna move, I don't see any other protection, if it moves, it's gonna scratch and gouge.

Downtown42 07-15-2011 10:48 PM

I'm more worried about them nice Tiffany glasses in the cabin breaking.

Are you sure? It looks pretty secure to me. My neighbor has a similar bungee cord holding the hood down on his 86 Caprice Classic, and it works pretty good..

If you think it works so well, then you try it!

US1 Fountain 07-16-2011 09:32 AM

A buddy sent me a pic fronm FL where he saw 35-38 Fountain with a windlass and anchor roller.
Must be a Fountain thing. :)

TEAMBAJA 07-16-2011 12:41 PM

I could care less about the scratches on the deck. I was more worried about my teeth and skull when it lets loose and flys down the deck through the windshield.

MrSneakAttack 07-16-2011 12:48 PM

Honey Can You Please Take This Anchor Out My Chest So We Can Dock And Eat Lunch....

Payton 07-16-2011 12:52 PM

Ok, I agree about the bungee cord. What about a more secure way to hold it down out there. Maybe a custom fit latch and pin setup. I avoid anchoring because I hate to carry it across my bow and I don't have a windshield to crawl over.

Just toss anchor from the cockpit and have someone walk out on the deck and tie it up. Crawling over a windshield is the worst thing.

Thats exactly how I do it. I drop the anchor over the side, then hand it to someone who has already walked up to the front of the boat. Beautiful part about a Velocity, there is a nice flat surface on each side to walk up to the front without having to step over the windshiled. Then when we leave, pretty much the opposite. Someone on the bow walks the anchor line back to me, then I pull it up from the swim platform, rinse it off and put it away.

Don't have to worry about the bow getting all dirty with seaweed and mud, scratched, or getting having the anchor dropped through the hatch or windshield.

I use bungee cords for anchor lines, dock lines, tie downs for the boat while on the trailer, and to attach my child's car seat to my motorcycle. We even connected 12 of them together to towed in my friends Bayliner over the weekend.

c_deezy 07-18-2011 12:49 AM

Hey that's Harrison Marina!

Chico&Zeus 07-19-2011 01:23 PM

If it did break loose, hopefully it would knock those stupid looking air horns off before hitting the driver:lolhit:

CrownHawg 07-19-2011 03:24 PM

I was admiring that square radar arch.

That was my first thought. I guess if you get smacked in the mouth with that anchor, you wont be worrying about the deck and winshield.

US1 Fountain 07-19-2011 07:00 PM

There may very well be a safety cable that is connected to the anchor that is hidden from view by the spotlight where the rope/chain goes thru the deck that prevents the anchor from going anywhere. The bungy cord is keeping the anchor from flopping around.

Captain YARRR 07-19-2011 09:33 PM

It's just one of those things, why gamble when the downside is having your skull in two pieces? Just doesn't seem worth it.

Bungies are great! Especially for towing other more problematic machinery!

"Problematic machinery" is a very kind description for that wedge shaped POS I towed in..

I didnt really notice the spotlight before. I notice its aimed towards the cockpit, maybe to look for missing teeth?:drink:

Funny thing though is the Webbcraft 35 was the king in its day at LOTO. Lot of them seen running around busting waves back then. Still several of them down there too!!! There was one at Bergers Marina forever, prob still there!!! Agree tho, lift the back seat and stow the damn anchor before you are anchored in the forehead!!!
