Powerboat in the mail today??
What's up with that.
Thought the were bought and shut down. Teague on tech has always been my fav part. This edition is a little thin, 80 ft Nor tech no one can afford and sone other nice stuff |
I got that one a month ago
|
They were bought, rumored by the new buyers to be shelved then decided to be brought back. The plan for the future looks pretty bright with more event coverage, tests and (the best news) they're upping issues to 6 hard cover and 6 online a year and from what I hear the new software is second to none. Jason is also working on expanding and growing the website. I'm personally pretty excited about what the future hold for PBM.

That 80' Nortech is at the top of my list of boats Id like to see in person. It makes my head spin to think of starting something like that from scratch.
Ive been extremely happy getting Powerboat again. Im starting to look more forward to that than the next issue of Playboy. :drink: |

Thanx for the info, tank
Hope they are able to continue. They could take a page from the Sportboat model and try and attract non boating advertisers, ie trucks and towing. |

Sport boat is able to do that with much more ease due to the fact their publisher is huge in the auto arena. PBM has had some big auto name, long term advertisers in the past (Toyota, Porsche GMC come to mind). Having had the opportunity to personally sample advertising sales for PBM, I had high aspersions of reaching out to businesses outside of the usual advertisers, but I must say; advertising is a struggle right now. Many are very gaurded with their (routinely minimal) ad budget which, in my opinion, is a double edged sword that causes a vicious cycle: save money but take away much needed public exposure. And I dint care what anyone says, advertising online only just isn't enough. There's a huge (I'd even say majority) of boaters and prospective boaters that don't patron boating forums at all. With all that said, I eagerly await the upcoming issues and look forward to the positive changes!
Any timeframe regarding when we as subscribers can expect PBM to continue? |
Thanks for the videos Tank, way too cool. How did you manage to get that ride?

We went out to Ft. Myers with the PBM test team last Dec. Profiled john woodruffs 48 MTI "windship", a nice deep impact, a fountain CC, formula, cobalt and Donzi's new open bow 35. Did a shop tour at nor-tech with Sobo then headed over to Sarasota to run the "Lady Lisa". Little video running on Windship....Good trip. :drink:
