Congrats to Matt Trulio on the new job
Just saw this.
EL SEGUNDO (July 18th, 2011) — Source Interlink Media has announced that Matt Trulio, the founder/publisher of speedonthewater.com and former editor at large for Powerboat magazine, has been named editor-in-chief of Sportboat magazine.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Matt on board,” said Victoria Newton, the associate publisher of Sportboat. “His credibility in the high-performance marine industry as a journalist is unmatched, and no one has stronger relationships with both the marine industry and its customers. He brings a wealth of creativity, vision and energy to the magazine.”
Trulio has over 25 years of experience as a journalist and has held roles ranging from managing editor to executive editor and content producer for both print and online publishing properties.
Trulio picks up the Sportboat editor-in-chief reigns from Eric Colby, who remains active with Source Interlink Media as a contributor to both Sportboat and Power & Motoryacht (PMY) magazines. He is also the editor for the trade magazine Professional Boatbuilder magazine published by WoodenBoat Publications. “Eric took Sportboat to the next level and kept it pointed in the right direction,” said Trulio. “He was the first editor I worked for in the marine industry and I consider him a mentor and a friend, I have a ton of respect for his talent, knowledge and ability.”
“With his work at Professional Boatbuilder and Power & Motoryacht (PMY), Eric has more than a little on his plate,” Trulio continued. “Given his obligations, I am particularly grateful that he has agreed to stay on as a significant contributor to Sportboat. He is a serious talent and we are lucky to have him as part of the team.”
Bob Brown, yet another well-known and respected high-performance marine writer, also will continue to contribute to Sportboat.
“It’s really simple,” said Trulio. “With Vicki, Eric, and Bob on board, Sportboat could not have a better team.”
In addition to featuring content from Sportboat magazine, sportboat.com, the publication’s new website, will feature daily news from speedonthewater.com through an exclusive syndication agreement. Established in November 2009 by Trulio, speedonthewater.com is a leading high-performance powerboating content site that provides daily news and features.
“The addition of Matt Trulio and our strategic partnership with speedonthewater.com is a testament to Source Interlink Media’s commitment to Sportboat Magazine as a brand in both the print and online space. We look forward to continued growth in this area to help better serve the readers and our marketing partners in the performance marine arena,” commented Warren Kosikov, Vice President Sales & Operations.
