I've always been a Merc fan but after riding in NASCAT at virtually wide open for an hour straight on the Key West Run I would have to say Ilmors rock!!!

Here is a price list.
Besides that, the comparable price would be with the NXT/SSM combo and not the NXT1 drive. The Indy is much closer to a #6 than a NXT1, since both are rated at roughly the same power (1000 hp/tq Indy and 1100 hp/tq #6) and are "true" surface drives. Where as the NXT1 is somewhat of a combo rated for 800 hp. |

With the same load spread across more cylinders the Ilmors can rock balls for extended periods of time.
Nascats rig isnt just awesome, its extremely low maintenance after the indy Mods and extremely efficient. Lets also not forget Ilmor allows separation of the drive and engine with qualified 3rd parties. Mercs refusal to split the combo under any circumstance will cost them sales. Uncle Dave |
What is Ilmor's plan for V-10 stock moving foward? As I understand it they had Dodge build them a run of blocks just before the Viper line shutdown. Not sure how many units that was in total. But I would assume until Fiat/Chrylster decides on the Viper's fate the V10 block inventory will eventually run out. Maybe a 3rd party will pick up the V10 production?

Techman, it's a good question, but we've got everyone covered.
The new Gen IV engines are mostly comprised of Ilmor modified parts anyway, and for the Gen IIIs, we find other sources for parts no longer offered by Chrysler. Don't worry... The V10s are here to stay for a long time! |
IlmorGirl?? Shouldn't it be IlmorDudette??

Boating Mag Ilmor article
Looks like a 725/Indy is $4,100 less than a 700/NXT. What would the savings be over a 700/Six package? Under the "Clearance" section of their web site, Ilmor's offering a killer deal on a pair of used 10-hour Indy drives with transmissions, all upgraded to the latest spec: $52,000/OBO. That's a great upgrade opportunity for someone. |
