Offshore Throttles

Are they really that complicated that you need this much direction to operate? Found on ebay.:grinser010:

L and R are tattooed on his hands!:lolhit:

svonmiller 07-29-2011 09:29 AM

He must be completely mystified by the trim button.

Gilman 07-29-2011 09:33 AM

Sure hope the red 5 doesent have an 8 or 9 in front of it.

CigDaze 07-29-2011 09:54 AM

Jeez! Really? What the heck?

I'm hoping that's a rental boat, because if you need this kind of reminder he shouldn't be anywhere near the helm of a boat. :picard1:

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, if you want to "back up," you should put it in "R."
That's some good advice right there.

rchevelle71 07-29-2011 10:43 AM

My wife would need that:lolhit:Reason why I dont let her do anything on the boat except refill my drink:drink:

HTRDLNCN 07-29-2011 10:49 AM

BINGO! :lolhit:

compedgemarine 07-29-2011 08:34 PM

yes but if left and right are tatooed on his hands then he could only turn left when he is throttling the boat!

TWIN-SPINS 07-30-2011 02:25 AM

place hands on wheel stickers :drink:

buck183 07-30-2011 08:52 AM

Oddly enough, as recently as last month I've read threads on other boating forums that asked why one would even want a throttle set up like this. They didn't understand why they had to be so complicated.

Honest, it was said....

That some funny chit :lolhit:

ActiveFun 07-30-2011 09:03 AM

...maybe they simplified the operation one step further - red left shoe with an "L<-" and a green right shoe with a "R->" - covers navigation and the turn direction delemna..... that said, is there the word "ROCK" on top of the cavitaion plate so when the boat stops moving after the inevitable whack or is it just inscribed into the lower .....or maybe painted on the bottom?????

This is taking the concept of "Boating for dummies" to a whole new level... and gives new meaning to "Here's your sign!!!" Signs are everywhere.

I do know of one boater that mistakenly reached for the gear shift, thinking it was throttles and went into reverse at 4000+ rpm....interesting twists inside a #6 when that happens

compedgemarine 07-30-2011 11:45 AM

maybe Tres started a new "boating for beginners" course and this is the drivers ed boat?

Thread highjack here..............

You guys that don't let your wives drive or have not taught them how should reconsider. You could have a health situation that requires someone to get you back to shore and help and don't count on the coast guard, police etc.

Good point, but you should start a new thread with that subject. I know that many times I read a title of a thread, and then their was 8 pages of stuff that I wasn't going to read, so I'm quite certain that when I jumped in the subject was so far off the point that my post made absolutely no sense. I guess my point is that your point is a good one and you should start a new thread with it so people jump in for different reasons. It can be very helpful. I know I appreciate it. Thanks

I heard this guy had his bright idea "patent pending". They are test running the complicated "zero effort" direction stickers with new bayliner high performance boat owners. Lowes & Home depot already sold-out nation wide of sticky mailbox letters....bummer. I needed some for a rental property.
