It would work if you used about 1000 lbs of ice over a 24 hr period (6000 btu/hr) for a small cabin or 2000 lbs for a larger one (12000 btu/hr)!!!!!

If you was to pump lake water through a heater core, you'd have to get water from deep below the surface.

Why use ice...wouldnt dry ice be a better choice?

Dry ice would be awesome until the CO2 displaced the O2 and you woke up dead

I have one that I use in the airplane & it does work and it works well, however it doesn't cool like a normal air conditioner would. The ice usually will last me for taxi, climb-out & up to altitude when I shut it down. I then fire it back up during the last 5000' of decent and when taxiing.
It won't last all night. You get about 40 minutes of cool blowing on you. Just enough to keep you out of the miserable hot range. |
