Current speeds

What is the current top speeds of the high hp prop driven boats? WOT and timed or measured courses.
I found the record for hydroplanes, but what is the record for the current go fast boats? I can't find anything posted online.

Nauti-Marine showed 218 mph on the gps at last years loto, their recorded mph was 208. the radar gun isn't shooting them head on. I forget what Vilwock's time was a few years earlier in the Bud Hydro.

I think some guy hit about 260 in the 70's........google it, I could be way off!!!

Ken Warby is the king of speed 317.6 I know it was in 1978 and it was jet powered

tpsbar 08-05-2011 08:12 PM

believe 208mph is best for piston, 220mph for turbine, 317mph for jet

The 208 record is just a shootout record in a standing mile. They actually gps somewhere around 225 that day and JT said he thought it would have gone 230+.

I was watching a sat dish a few years ago that was somehow able to catch programs from far away places. One channel had a documentary on the 317 mph run. I don't remember the name, but I have never been able to see it on American programming. The crash footage was disturbing for me. I have to say, the programming that other countries have is quite different than here in the US. News footage was very graphic, different views, etc. In the evening, Discovery channel had shows with nudity.
Sorry to jump off topic.
