800 teague / 500 merc?

There are two dcb mach 26 boats for sale in havasu right now...one has a 800 teague, and the other a 500 Merc...would you get the one with a 500 and put a whipple on it? Or would the 800 teague be just as reliable?

800 teague would be just as good as the 500 with a whipple on it. Teague builds great motors and is out of california so its nice and close to havasu..

Both sound great, but I would have to see the pics/years of both boats to make that decision. Sure I'd rather have the TCM800, but if the other boat was newer, had a better gelcoat scheme and trailer, I'd probably pick the 500 Merc boat. Sure, it wouldn't be as fast, but its probably very reliable, however its used so, you never know?... Lots of factors for me in making that decision, so if you could post a few pics of each F26?... if poss..?

Pics, Pics?......

The Teague 800 will be vastly more reliable than bolting a blower to a stock Mercury engine.

A motor built from the ground up to be an 800hp motor by a good builder is miles ahead of a motor built to be a 500hp motor that has been stretched to 800hp.

If both boats are nice Teague all the way

My TCM800 has been 100% reliable. Around 160hrs now, zero issues. Runs like a banshee :)

Based on your question, Teague 800. The two that I have are great. Dustin had done a post on OSO saying that everyone he has ever dynoed they came out at over 850 HP

Ok Thx...I was just worried about the 800 being a carb motor but it will never leave havasu so I shouldn't have to worry about keeping the carbs dialed in...
