Any truth to a triple digit AT?????

I heard those 5 blade hydromotives are bad boys.

birdog 06-06-2002 06:43 PM

Wouldnt they be even tougher on drives than the 4 blades ?

Tejas Raz 06-06-2002 07:20 PM

Ditto,
Which one? What power? Can I borrow it?

BlueMoon 06-06-2002 07:29 PM

Last I heard, a correct prop setup was VERY important to top speed and performance.

KAAMA 06-06-2002 07:42 PM

Birdog, I would also like to know the answer to the question you asked about the 5-bladed props being tougher on an outdrive.

Ted G 06-06-2002 08:25 PM

If we use a car analogy then yes 5 blade props would be harder on the drives.

When you put slicks on a car and it begins to hook up hard to the road you begin finding where your driveline parts are weak.

Since 5 blades have more "bite"(traction) they will put more pressure on the driveline-especially the drive(s).

Yep.....Thats what got me thinking. Maybe 3 blades wouldnt brake these Bravos so much?

KAAMA 06-06-2002 11:54 PM

That's what I suspected as well---I'm running on the edge now as it is with my XR's and 704lbs of torque. I think I'll stick with the 4-bladed props for now. :)

Jesse James,
I don't think the 6's are the fix all type of answer. Maybe for you guys with big boats it is but I think a 26 Scarab with a 6 hanging off of the back might just sink !!:D

I've been lucky so far though ,675hp thru a stock Bravo with a total of 200 stock motor hours made it thru 2 poker runs and about 35 hard hours.
I will be trying my XR soon so hopefully that will be good enough for me.
And I agree about the throttle arm does allot of the breaking . The splines on my prop shaft are still perfectly straight ! Guess I'm okay !

Stock Bravos

26 scarab
200 hours with stock drives and 675 hp, what about broken parts? Many? You really deserve a pat on the back for that!!What made you change drives, getting scared or are you adding hp?anyway, good going just wish that I can have that kind of luck! or skill:D :D :D
