Check out Tank Sears' blog about the history behind Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite (SCOPE) and the club's 17th annual poker run, which is coming up next weekend (Aug. 26-27) in Long Beach, Calif.

Unfortunately it competes with the LOTO shoot out (same weekend) but still a great run that everyone should enjoy at some point. With Catalina as a destination, it's a very unique poker run.

I did the run a few years ago, totally awesome in every respect !

The left coast crew are a bunch of great guys & the parties were second to none.

I've been on poker runs from coast to coast and I gotta say Catalina island adds a certain je ne sais quoi...it's a whole 'nother ball game!
