$103,000.00 was spent to put in a toilet dump station. Of this $43,500.00 was CVA grant money Derived from marine fuel taxes and fishing equipment taxes. $50,000.00 was from matching state funds, again tax money. The remainder was paid for by the club.
Google CVA grant requirements for specific details on how your power boat tax goes through the government and to the sailing club. Note the stipulation in the very first paragraph that it must be accessible to all boats.
The CVA grant money was for the public, the matching State money was for the public, the facility is on public park land. The facility is legally a vendor lease authorized under Ohio Revised Code that says it must be open to the public.
The state told the club that any courtesy docks MUST be open to the public, so the club never designated courtesy docks. If you try to park there and access the public restrooms you will be parking illegally because there are no courtesy docks. Yet, the club regularly brings in out of town sailboat racers, sometimes 25 at once and then parks them on the docks as they please.
In a meeting with the Sailboat club in May about this issue I was told that I was not welcome because they do not like the look or sound of my boat. Not welcome at a public facility for your look or sound sure seems like discrimination to me. I have two very young children, when I complained that I would like park my boat and take them to the public restrooms I was told to swim in because they were not going to let me park.

I see that you guys have been signing the petition. Your support is much appreciated. I urge you to also contact ODNR and ask them why we can not access the public restrooms. I can send the proper contact information to anyone who desires it.

Hope this gets resolved. These powerboat vs. sailboat conflicts end up hurting both sides in the long run. Personally I don't have any more issues with sailboaters then I have with powerboaters, kayakers, jetskiers etc.
There are jerks in all our groups.

That is very correct. Most of the sailors here are great people and friends, I am sitting in the cove right now tied to a sailor friend and sharing coffee. It only takes a few to corrupt a system.
