Brittish Seagull outboard motors?

A guy gave me a very old outboard motor the other day. He told me that it was a 6hp Brittish Seagull and that was all he knew about it. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find out more info about it?

They are kind of a "cult" motor. Used to be several Seagull types on the old rec.boats newsgroupd (but I havn't been back there for a few years now). My neighbor has them rigged as "twins" on his 8 foot Zodiac used with his trawler. Think they were also used on some sailboats as aux. motor.
