I was also that heard about the boat going down. The dock hands were the ones that told us a Mayday came over the radio and it was supposedly a cigarette, but I guess maybe they were wrong. Hopefully they were! |

We were also in front of a PowerPlay from CAN, that was a sweet ride. Nice guy with his wife and kid. J, We'll stop by if we see you guys at Kelly's this weekend. How's the Scout coming? Not too many updates in your paint thread. |

Was on Lake Erie last weekend visting my folks and cruised around in their Nordic Tug. We were at the Casino Friday and MBYC Saturday. Had to head home Sunday but took a pic off Marblehead. Winds were from the N-NW. Would have been even worse from the NE.

I miss boating on Erie (my wife doesn't). Have spent the past four yrs on Lake Norman and Lake Lanier. So much water to explore and places to go on that lake (and connecting lakes)
The roughest days on either of the lakes above would be a realitvely calm day on Erie... Don't let any one tell you different. Hope the title of the thread isn't true. |

That was us. We were on C dock and yeah, it took us almost an hour to go about 6 miles. The waves we serious 10ft. Never seen anything like it. And we had to go all the way to St. Clair, so, we turned back. That was some crazy ****!!!

We left before you guys, crack of dawn! hardly got any sleep Sunday night, the boats were rubbing & bumpin all night long, the ride back was good, sure glad we waited to leave monday, I heard a few boats got beat up leaving Sunday
Didn't have our act together well enough (2 days of drinking on the docks) to leave that morning but we got together as a group and all but two boats decided to fuel up that day, lash everything down that night and hope the next morning was calm and haul ass. The other 2 boats left mid day and disappeared into pouring rain, near zero visibility (one w/a hand held VHF!) and 6' + waves with 35 miles to go. At one point the smaller boat w/the hand held was out of site of larger, lead boat and radio contact. (we were preparing to go look for them in my boat) They made it 15 mls and shelter'd in @ Pelee Island. We left at butt crack of dawn the next morning w/glass smooth water, ran 55+ the whole trip and beat the other two boats to breakfast at Kelley's! Never forgot that lesson. Does same down here and plan to use that info when finally get to head east ;) |
Might have to come join you guys at Kelleys this weekend. We will be up at the lake Fri morn - mon night.

Too bad about Portside. We stopped there for a cocktail last time on the island a couple yrs back. Maybe the best Rum Runner I ever had. Always liked Seaway too and stayed there a lot but know it was showing it's age as well and is a haul to town if you didn't have bikes like we did. Have fun guys/girls and be careful! Remember, holiday weekend so the idiots will be out in force. |

:drink: good seeing everyone and what a great weekend it was. Hate to say it but i'm glad we bugged out sunday, monday would have sucked making the run in that following sea. We had a great run back in one to threes on sunday though. Took the boat out for a quick run after cleaning it yesterday and i think i wiped out a cam lobe, got lucky on that one that it didnt happen on the way out or back :D. Oh well i was planning on freshening them up this winter anyway.

We left yesterday morning and came back in 3 to 5's with several 6's to boot! You could tell the lake was starting to crank up! I hope Donna and Ian had a safe trip back to MI. 40 miles in a head on in that water?? 43 Black Thunder or not, I would have said no way! |
It was crankin pretty good when we left the Casino yesterday (last boat to leave - imagine that :D)

I just heard from Donna and Ian.
They turned around once they got into the open waters because it was so rough and spent the night at PIB. Wasn't much better today so they idled back. Took them 3 hours for a 45 min trip. At least they are home safely. |
