Default Fountain Fever need special trailer?

Just bought a 1997 Fountain 27 with stepped hull and was wondering if you can put it on a straight bunk speedloader or do the bunks have to be stepped as per the hull??

I will be picking it up with the trailer from my no step nova, but could easily modify with two by fours and carpet if needed.

Thanks for the help!

Yes you need to have the bunks stepped to support the hull per the manual that comes with the fountain. You are correct in that you can simply add the proper height and carpet to the rear of your existing bunks and then make you some solid ones. You also want the bunks to extend about 3" past the transom to prevent a hook or damage.

Also, might have to have a "cow catcher" v block stop below the winch line. The beak can play havoc with a typical winch set up. But you ought to be able to get it home with out the cow catcher. I'll try post a pick of my setup that I got to work very well.

Congrats on new toy. Call the seller to give you the step height and length. That way you could just screw them on temporary. The bow eye on a fountain sits lower than on a typical v hull bow because of the beak. If you look at a lot of fountains on trailers, you'll see the winch is mounted down lower. If you don't have the winch down low, the bow will rotate down into the winch as the stern floats upward while launching. This was my experience and took me a while to figure out.
