made the jump from a V hull to a Cat. builder sent pick to day what do you guys think ? went from a 24' baja h2x that went 68 on gps to a 28 profile cat with a 540 bb 650hp, this should be fun:D

SHARKEY-IMAGES 06-09-2002 01:40 AM

Very nice...;) Just remember not to drive it like a Vee Bottom. Cats prefer to drive themselves if you know what I mean. Just let the hull do all the work it is designed to do. Enjoy......

Welcome to a cat! It's like having two boats, two boats in one!!!

They're right, tcats don't drive like a V-hull. When I firsat got mine home and spent some time learning to drive it I had MAJOR second thoughts about it.

But as I gained experience, I learned those thoughts were the result of my driving! :o Much too quick with the wheel and just not knowing what the boat wanted. Now after about 25 hours - I love it and feel 110% comfortable driving at all speeds!! So far I've run about 95 at about 14% slip. I'm now trying other props in search of 100MPH.

Take it easy at first gain "the touch" and gain confidence. You're gonna love it!!! :D :D

By the way great paint!

congrats!!!!!!
beautiful boat

IMCO 3'' rise stand off box and imco SC drive. Will there be a major learning curve. i have owned boats for 10years but never a cat

Flashback 06-09-2002 11:26 AM

Great Looking Boat ! The cat is deffinitely the way to go for speed and depending on the bottom design, they have the best ride in the rough stuff to. A lot of cats have a center pod (glad mine does not!) that when the water hits it at speed it makes the hull vibrate and can numb you after a while. The cats that dont have a center pod have to run a little higher speed to pack some air, but boy does it feel goooooooood and smooth when rollin!

How many other designs have you considered before you chose Profile and what kind have you driven and what were your deciding factors for Profile? (just curious)

Have fun! Be careful, the cats do deserve a certian amount of respect to handle.:)

Steve 1 06-09-2002 11:32 AM

The Boat is cool looking man ! What kind of speed are they getting from that setup ?? :) :) :) :)

bajamag 06-09-2002 11:57 AM

flashback went with profile for looks and price can,t buy a skater i dont have that much money and as for driving a cat 0 seat time. steve 1 boat has never been in water yet so i don,t have any speed numbers yet. should be high 90 to low 100

h2owarrior 06-09-2002 12:24 PM

Very nice looking boat:D Congrats.

bajamag, congrats. I too was going to buy one but it is just a tad bit too small for the big water poker runs. I did take three test drives in a 28 Profile. It had the 575/XR drive package and the only add on was a super chiller. Great running boat up to about 3 to 3.5feet of chop. That one i was in hit 101mph, which i just happen to have on video. Really great boat!!

Great looking boat! I've always wanted to go for a ride in one, but there is not any where I boat. I'm sure I will run in to one before long though.

Uncle Toys 06-10-2002 01:32 PM

That's a really nice looking boat! Sure am glad that I'm not the only one jumping on the band wagon without even getting my feet wet!

jdnca1 06-12-2002 10:37 AM

Bajamag, that is a great looking boat. What does the hull weigh?

Catmando, that boat will never run close to 110 with 650hp even with a kryptonite prop. :p
