Anyone know where to find any information on a 88 Switzer GL21 closed bow I/O? Ive been searching the net for weeks and keep coming up blank.

Check on Scream and Fly. I'm sure someone over there has the info you need.

What info are you looking for?

I just bought one and want to find any info i can. I can find some info on the outboard models but cant find anything on the inboard outboard models. Mine had a 350sbc which was replaced with a 454bbc. How fast should this run? Do the hulls handle well?

I had a GL with an 2.5 Merc outboard that would run in the low to mid-80s on a good day. My Brother had a white GL with a 260 merc that would run in the low-70s. They tend to chinewalk pretty severely at speed which can be a hand full but not to difficult to drive out of. What drive is on your boat. My Brother had an alpha on his. He knocked it off once at LOTO when he hit a submerged log. Almost sank it but was able to beach it

Did you try starting a thread about Switzer I/Os'. S&F is not just outboard specific. Good luck.

FYI, the GL started out as a 20' boat. I had one with a GT Johnson. The GL 21 had a 2.5 Merc. The GL 21 loved small wind chop and was an absolute blast on a mildly windy day. The GL 21 with the 260 IO my Brother had was a white boat and it wasn't nearly as fast as the outboard model. I spent a lot of time in both boats and I can tell you that the OB model handled way better than the IO boat.

Your boat was built in Crystal Lake IL. The company was owned by a guy named Danny Koonz (not sure about the spelling).

Thanks guys. Mine has an Alpha drive 1.50 ratio. When i bought it i needed to wire the engine and finish getting the engine alignment right. Its all done now i just need to figure out what i should do for a prop.

A friend had one back in the late 80's,boat had a 270 mag engine,he would run a 23 p mirage spinning at 4800 rpm and the boat would run in the low 70's on the dreamo meter..

If its a healthy big block i would start off with a 25 p prop and go from their..those boats rode real lite in the tail end with a small block but with the added weight of the bb?? who knowa how the boat will air out..
