There was a show on the history channel or something of the like following one of the racers a few years back. He hit a wall at over 100mph and was in a coma for a few months. Almost died...needless to say, he retired.

Ironic thing is getting out of the saddle of these bikes(which may i say is second nature to me!) and thinking I am "slowing down" in life by getting into performance boating. My first boat a 24 outlaw I gps'd myself @ 72mph as i was learning how to operate it...in my mind my boat was patheticly slow so I began my quest to make it a 100mph boat! Within a year I realized how hard and dangerous it is to attempt this in this hull(after a short education on fast boats) and see a show on A&E where they rated high performance boating as the #3 most dangerous sport/recreation in the world.
WOW I think, I got into BOATS as to keep peace within my family after a lifetime of "dangerous" motorcycles!!!

More...a better perspective to what the race is about.....raced superbikes for a long time and watching this....I dont even know what to say theres so many factors....LONG course, something like 37 MILES, would take years to memorize, extremely fast, walls everywhere, broken pavement....you can go on and on...as posted earlier...let 'em hang boys!
