Fully catalyzed, probably LS-X based... All it needs now is a stern drive with the appropriate torque capacity. Wonder how the torque/power curve/pricing compares to the 525EFI Merc.

That's definitely a monster for a ski boat.

Things that make you go hhmmmmm....

I cant for the life of me understand why Mercury doesnt go with the LSx motors to replace the ready for the grave V6 and small block V8s
Glad to see other manufacturers step up to the plate and get ahead of them!!

That's the kind of moves that can make a smaller engine company a big competitor. Love it.

and it's good look'n too. The new Merc motors (non blue) are pretty ugly compared to this new beast.

Here's the full scoop: http://www.ilmor.com/en/marine/recre...l/MV8-74L.aspx

Forged internals, variable valve timing, 87 octane and super-low emissions. Nice...

I agree. LSx engines have been around for a long time now.

Merc needs to get with the times, or sit back and watch Ilmor motor past them.

Torque too; 524 ft-lb

Just need to offer it for boats other than ski boats, without the exhaust manifold.
