Fallen Heros
I was on a plane from Hawaii today and one of our fallen heros was being transported home for his final journey. As required he was being escorted home. As we landed in Atlanta, the stewardess asked to remain seated while the escort and the fallen hero were removed from the plane. You could hear a pin drop on the airplane as it brought a tear to my eye.

There's perspective for you. Wow.
RIP, brother. |
Thanks for sharing that with us.

To all the fallen heros.. RIP

RIP, brother. This boating crap doesn't mean jack when you hear about this kind of thing, perspective is right. |
I think it is impressive and I'm glad pilots bring it to the attention of the passengers. If you havent seen it, get on demand and watch "Taking Chance" - GREAT movie!
I was on a flight to Grand Rapids after the movie and the pilot announced a moment of silence to unload a fallen soldier and it was exactly as depicted in the film. In the movie, Kevin Bacon's character brings home a fallen soldier. Its not unlike what happened to you on the plane and thats what makes the movie great. Every soldier that comes home in a casket deserves it! Highly recommended film: http://www.hbo.com/movies/taking-chance/index.html |
