Most boat fiberglass shops here deal with and depend on insurance claims. If boats wern't insured people wouldn't get them fixed.

Most boat policies for high-performance boats do not allow anyone to drive unless they are named on the policy. If someone is driving, and they are not named on the policy, most likely the claim will be denied.

that area really isnt rough.. I would love to know what happened.. I dont like hearing about any accidents, but the more info we get from them the more we can try to prevent them from happening ..

Sorry to read about your accident. It is awesome that everyone is ok you can always buy another boat.
I had steering failure with our 95 topgun 2 years ago and hit the sea wall in A C. ( walls dont move ) 6 people on board, low speed, sunny day and smooth water. It was not a fun day. Luckily everyone was ok and in the end, I was glad not to hit another boat.
I was fortunate to have an awesome insurance agent that walked me thru the entire claim process. At the end of the process, the boat was totaled and sold thru a salvage company
Good luck with your claim, hopefully you have a good insurance agent and company.

Okay after reading this entire thread I'm wondering how the hell I avoid a steering failure. That makes me not even want to go above 15 knots. Been boating 30 years and never even encountered something like that.
