the 28 scorpion is an awsome boat,i had one back in 02 and i put over 300 hrs on it and no real issues at all.the only thing is that the boat is not real deep, and it could get a little squirrley @ any speeds over 75 in some chop w/a side wind.but overall the boat was awesome and fairly forgiving, after some seattime.you will not go wrong with a 28 zx.but make sure you get a survey done and PERSONALLY DRIVE THE BOAT TO MAKE SURE ITS RIGHT FOR YOU.I used to be a donzi dealer, and i loved the 28 zx but it took me three years to sell mine, and over 20 demos,i had that boat sold over the phone about 10 times, and people just wouldnt close and the main reason was the cocpit and cuddy area was too small.with that bieng said that 28 sold me a ton of 33 zx[about 8] just beacuse it was bigger and had comparable performance.the quality and fit and finish was great for a production boat.graphis were very well done, and they always used top quality hard ware i hope this helps

Why do you need a step? If it goes over 75 it goes over 75? Most of the straight hulls will ride better on rough days too, although the sit down NY area race style boats all have good reps for riding nice.

I personally wouldn't want any bigger than my 28 in a single. It's like a kite in the wind when docking w/ no way to control it without twins.

If you you want a big stand up boat in a single, go w/ a 28 AT. Other options I liked 28 PP (obviously my first choice) or a Pantera 28. They'll take more power than a step hull boat but they will run great in the rough.

I looked at Donzi's 28 ZX's as well, but they are smaller and they all were overpriced on the market when I was looking.

Active Thunders look nice, do they make anything in 28-30 with a single?

A 28 Pantera would be a good choice if you HAVE to have a stand up boat single. They ride great in the rough but take a bunch of power to make them fast.

700hp will push them low 80's and will push that 29' Kryptonite mid 90's.

I have a 1998 32 velocity with 600hp 525scs brand new cmi. I seen 92 with more to go . I would need 60,000 but the motors only have 125 hours the hull 225hours . I been thinking about up grading.

Pantera sounds like the Baja's I'm trying to get away from, no step, no pad, but do good in the rough, and take lots of power to move them.... No thanks

Kryptonite is a REALLY fast hull, and looks great, but seating and cockpit room are an issue for me.

Do you have pics or a link? I'm not a big fan of velocity, but I would consider that setup...

Pm me your email if I have time I'll send you a couple after I go out this weekend. If you don't want it I don't care I would only sell it to buy a bigger velocity . This is my second velocity . If you can drive their bad a$$' boats. I've drove a couple different brands and wouldn't
change unless I try a cat.
Ps not many boats have beat me and I race people all the time. Two people one was a cat.

Yep, the 28 single.

No steps though (unless they've updated the new ones)....but w/ some power they'll get going. They are big 28's though, tons of freeboard.

28 Powerquest silencer. Single step, big cockpit, nice cabin, lots of storage.
I looked at Donzi but did not care for the cockpit. Seemed to lack storage also.
I would part with mine within your price range and you would still have plenty of gas money left. 75 mph, closed cooling, turn key with about 175 hours.
