Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion. Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams; |
15' waves? Those on your shoreline looked to be 4-5' max what kind of measuring stick are you guys using down there :lolhit: I could see there being larger ones out in open deeper water.. but those are not even close to 15s near shore :bsflag:

Type in "23 foot wave" in the search box, and then "GO" Note especially the NOAA graphic, showing the wave heights east of the buoy measuring 23' are even greater. Sorry my movie didn't adequately capture the true height, as there are no reference points. The deck I'm on is 60' above the water level. I've raced in true 5-6 footers in Lake Michingan, Coco Beach and Key West, and I'm positive that what I filmed was MUCH larger. There's no way in hell I would have attempted boating that day . . . in any size boat. |
Every year I ride my Jet skis (not the lake lice annoying type) on lake michigan. Fun to jump 6 to 8 ft waves which happens often. Once in a while we ride in 12-15ft and they are to fat at the base to even jump. Even out by the sleeping bear sand dunes where the dunes are over 400ft tall, when between the waves I can not even see land!!

Those waves can look deceptively small when you're standing on shore----until you actually get out there! I've made that mistake a few times in past years with Lake Michigan.
Anyway, nice little spot you have on the lake there Pete! :) |
