The absolute safest thing to do in your partiular situation is to hire a reputable Marine Survey company to look the boat over for you. You'd be amazed what these guys can turn up.

Yes I am definately going to put it in the water before any $$ changes hands. I have a mechanic friend that is going to ck out the motor for me. Compression tests, etc
