gauge help???

hey guys im new here... i own a 98 scarab 22 and unfortunatly one of my gauges broke, needless to say its one of the odd ball 4-5/8 gauges.

all i can find are 3 3/8 or 5" gauges.. i found 2 different 4 5/8 gauges by gaffrig and teleflex but WOW $$$.

does anyone make a shortcut to fix this issue, say an over sized gauge bezel to utelize a 3 3/8 gauge in the 4 1/4" hole?

if not how about aftermarket scarab 22 dash??

thanks for the help.

What gauge and what brand???? It might be able to be repaired.

Why can't you just cut the hole bigger???

Welcome to OSO.

How do you know the gauge is bad? More often than not, it's the sender or the wiring that's bad.

the tach has been on the fritz, and honestly the previous owner has replaced other smaller gauges as they went out or broke, but obviously on a tight tight bugdget because their miss matched....

basically id like to replace them all and get a matching set to help accent other things i have done to the boat.

ive got two 4-5/8" gauges and five 2-5/16 gauges i belive..

teague and livorci are way way pricey just for the two individual 4-5/8" gauges they make, i just cant afford em :traurig001:

how about aftermarket oversized bezels?

ive got a 4-1/4" hole cutout for them both, anyone make a bezel with say a 3" id and a 5" od??

lemme know

A 5" gauge is most likely a 4 5/8". They measure to the outside of the rim vs. the hole cut out.

I can guaranty that it will be cheaper to replace 1 gauge before replacing the entire dash to fit another size.

What is the make and the function of the gauge you need? Unfortunately the 4 5/8" gauges are either the Tach or the Speedo, which are the most expensive. Give us a call, we can work to match the same gauge that you are needing for a very reasonable price. We might even have 1 on the shelf that we will make a smoking deal for. -Eric

These are the original faria gauges used in the 96-98 scarab 22s. The gauge face of the tach an speedo are 4-5/8" outside of the ring. The actual body and hole cutout for the gauge is 4-1/4".

I've got a 5" autometer tach that's a true 5" outside of ring, these side by side in my dash will hit eachothers rings being that the holes cut in dash are just to close for a 5" gauge to be used.. I need somethin with a true 4-5/8" outside ring diameter.

Only enlarge holes to the outside????

matt1840 10-05-2011 05:24 PM

i thought of that as well, also took those measurements, and well my smaller gauges will be in conflisct...

im annoyed right now lol... and as far as i understand wellcraft no longer makes dash blanks for these boats.
