Poker Run Magazine

I renewed my subscription back in June of this year (2011) the check was also cashed in June. I have never received a magazine. I have emailed them several times with no return answer. What is the normal turn time on getting a magazine? And has anyone else had this problem?

Same exact thing... I renewed on 06-14-11 according to my receipt and shot 3 emails over the last few months with no response until this week. I received a call from a lady saying she didnt know why I hadn't received a Magazine? What she told me was they haven't published a Magazine all summer and just released one in the last two weeks, I told her I hadn't received one yet. She was going to send one out from her office and check with publishing house to verify I was on the list. She did say they are only going to put out 5 or 6 Magazines a year now because of the Economy and just extend the subscription??

The number she called me from was 905-844-8218.

They never did put out a monthly mag it was always 6 a year, sometimes a seventh. I liked it, very slick with great grafix, great PR coverage and very few spelling errors.

Got this notice today,,,

"Powerboat has suspended publication effective with the july 2011 issue

The good news is we plan to relaunch next monthand continue the tradition of Powerboat with the same trusted, informative and first rate content you've come to expect.

to receive the new Powerboat magazine you don't need to do anything! The November/December issue will be sent to you, and you will receive the appropriate number of issues remaining on your subscription.

Look for even greater coverage of action packed, fast paced boating lifestyle, plus new digital offerings. Thank you for your support as we move forward with the evolution of Powerboat."

I don't know but I used to get PB all the time, and then they started dwindling, so I gave it up, well my aunt got us a amazon card for xmas and really didn't see much for me so I said what the hell, guess thats biting me now we will see I did receive that last issue thou as it was my first since joining.

I subscibed in the Spring and haven't received an issue yet. 3 emails and 2 phone messages have gone unanswered.

IMO, Pokerruns America was the best magazine out there. It just seemed more personal. Unfortunately they are gone- if they're not, they have some explaining to do. I believe my subscription runs out in late 2012 or early 2013, and I haven't gotten anything in about a year. I'm tired of sitting by the mailbox LOL

Anyone else notice that a lot of companies doing poorly right now blame the economy instead of considering that years of crappy customer service have finally caught up to them.

That may be a partial answer . But in the case of the magazine you are discussing here ,I think not.

I have received this mag for many many years without a glitch.
I remember when every builder had multi ads inside.
Fountain at one point had at least 4 full page ads and more than 6 more minor spots in the issues.

When you take that away overnite it hurts.

I'd stick with the chitty economy as the main reason. That alone is enough to make good things turn cruddy.

I just got a reply today. Their sending out a copy of the magazine. Looks like this thread really helped out.

Got to disagree with you on this one. Read the original post again:

They took his money, didn't deliver product and didn't respond to multiple e-mails. This is the very definition of poor customer service. How long would it take to send an e-mail that says "We're sorry and we'll look into it and get back to you"?

Very nice, and I wish them well, but I don't understand why you sent me the link. I didn't see anything that said "click" here and we will settle up. Don't get me wrong. I will absolutely subscribe if I ever see them pick themselves off of the ground, I just need to see it first. As far as whoever said before about customer service and/or lack there of, you nailed it bro. A couple of years ago, many people in the marine service industry made you think that you had to kiss their ass to get anywhere. I'm not talking about you millionaire guys that snap your fingers, I'm talking about us normal guys that couldn't even get an answer. " If you want to drop off your boat, we'll take a look at it when we get a chance". That's the lack of customer service that doesn't go well, and businesses that treat people like that, oh well , bye, bye. No sympathy from my end

Update,
Got mine in the mail yesterday...

I think he was asking about Poker Run Magazine...
If anyone is interested, I just received a Poker Run Mag after 7or 8 months of bot getting one. My buddy who has a competitive magazine (better in my opinion) said they are still around. Not sure what happened all this time!

To answer your questions on Poker Run Magazine and not Powerboat, I received mine Friday. First time in 8 months...Hope this helps

You can contact PRA through their facebook page. I have gotten a response there in the past.

Perfect Storm 10-10-2011 06:19 AM

I get my Poker Runs America mag every couple of months, including the most recent one about a week or so ago... I think that they stagger delivery throughout their subscribers because none of my boating buds ever seem to get the magazine at the same time.

I think it's a great magazine and I really look forward to every issue. I think one of the best features is that they give some exposure to smaller power boating communities (like Buffalo, NY) that other magizines don't even think about visiting, let alone publishing pictures of them.

Maybe they aren't as quick to respond to customer service inquiries because they're out boating! :drink::drink::drink:

SHARKEY-IMAGES 10-10-2011 09:22 AM

I have never received one magazine from PRA as promised when my images were being used. I would have to go out to Barnes & Noble to buy a copy if I wanted one.

Several people have contacted me to use my images on PRA's Cover and stated that it would be great publicity for me. I told them no problem as long as the image was paid for and that a Photo Credit be attached.

Past experience for a Miami Boat Show Edition, my image makes the cover and not a mention of any Photo Credit. I discussed this with a person working their booth at the show and they told me,"It happens way too often and you should be given the credit."

So much for the publicity theory.

My images in their magazine are useless without people knowing who shot them.

I would rather not have my images in the mag if they can't give the simple courtesy of a Photo Credit to the photographer.

After all, it is the content they are making a profit off of, and personally I don't think it is too much to ask.

My last centerfold 3 page spread in Performance Boats Magazine, they were kind enough to send me 20 Magazines at no cost to share with my customers. Photo Credit clearly printed on the opening page. Just goes to show how publishers can work so differently...

Performance Boats Magazine is the best right now and the only one tha is on time and does what they say.

I don't even know what is going on with the others.

PB says they are coming back. They were good back when it had 100 pages but it got pretty lean.

I will stick with Performance Boats.
